What are V-Vehicle Company's hiring plans?
The company will hire a small number of people in late 2009 to supervise renovation and construction work at the Monroe, La., facility. Some of these people may continue in managerial positions once the plant is operational.
The company will hire a limited workforce of fewer than 100 people for the start-up of operations in the fall of 2010. It will expand to 500 people when it ramps up to run at full, one-shift capacity in early 2011. And it will add a second and third shift as rapidly as possible, consistent with employee training requirements and product sales volumes throughout 2011 and into 2012.
At full production, the plant will employ approximately 1,400 people including plant managerial and support staff, assembly workers, maintenance workers and material handlers.

What kinds of jobs will these be?
Mainly, jobs will be typical, automotive assembly jobs, as well as all the support functions needed to assemble cars and manage an automotive assembly plant. The company will post specific job descriptions in 2010, several months before hiring begins.
